Key Features
What's new
  • New M2 Pro and M2 Max. The new M2 processors deliver up to 20% CPU and 30% GPU better performance than the previous M1 Pro and M1 Max. The new chip also supports a larger memory capacity, up to 96GB of unified RAM.
  • Supports 8K at 60Hz. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro has an HDMI 2.1 port that connects an 8K monitor or TV at a 60Hz refresh rate. It also supports a very smooth 240Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution.
  • Better battery life of up to 22 hours. The M2 processors are even more efficient than the M1. For the same 100-watt-hour battery, the new M2 MacBook Pro 16 lasts up to 22 hours of movie playback or 15 hours of wireless web browsing.
  • Welcome improvements.
    • Here is a list of what's new and what improvements the 16-inch M2 MacBook Pro has over its previous generation:
    • Supports the latest Wi-Fi 6E.
    • Supports Bluetooth 5.3 technology.
    • Supports up to 96GB of unified memory.
    • Shipped with macOS Ventura.
  • More affordable, starting at just $599. For a hundred dollars less, you get a base model of Mac mini with an M2 (8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores) chip, 8GB of unified memory, and a 256GB SSD.
  • Supports up to three displays. The new M2 Pro Mac mini can simultaneously output up to three displays with two 6K@60Hz and one 4K@60Hz.
  • Improvements:
    • Supports larger unified memory capacity of up to 24GB.
    • Uses faster LPDDR5 memory.
    • The headphone jack now supports high-impedance headphones.
    • Comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
    • Shipped with macOS Ventura.
  • M2 Pro Mac mini exclusive features:
    • New 185W built-in power supply.
    • Supports larger unified memory capacity of up to 32GB.
    • Supports up to 200GB/s of memory bandwidth.
    • Supports up to three display outputs.
    • It supports the latest HDMI version 2.1, which can output up to 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz.
What's missing
  • No Bootcamp support. You can't install and run Windows 10/11 using Bootcamp on the new M2 chip. Virtualization is the only solution you can run the Windows OS on the new Macbook devices.
  • No eGPU support. The Thunderbolt 4 ports on the 16-inch M2 MacBook Pro don't support external Thunderbolt-enabled graphics processors (eGPUs).
Non-Pro M2 chips are still limited to two displays. To have a Mac mini with three monitors set up, you will need a model with an M2 Pro chip. The M2 chip supports only up to two display outputs simultaneously, with one 5K@60Hz and one 4K@60Hz.
